You never know what you will find when digging through your own FamilySearch Family Tree.
While looking through my FamilySearch Family Tree one day, I discovered a memory that had been attached to my 2nd great-grandaunt. It was her family bible!

Sally, along with her husband and children, had their vital information, including birth and marriages listed among the pages. She also included information about their parents and siblings. I already had most of this information, but to have it written down in her own hand was so special.

Among the images digitized there were pages from the bible of Esther Holland Massey, a sister of Sally, with information on her parents, as well as her husband's parents.
There was also what appeared to be a eulogy from her brother William Holland’s funeral in 1981.

I have been in touch with the team at Bible Rescue to thank them for their efforts in digitizing this information and adding it to the FamilySearch Family Tree. They let me know that they had volunteers do genealogical research on the people mentioned in the family history pages of the bible and attach it to them.
Check out their website here to contact the team directly to look for opportunities to help extract family history information. This can be done remotely in the comfort of your home.
Go to their main page.

From there click on the three dots in the top right corner. Then select become a volunteer.

You can then create an account and sign up to volunteer.
This is a great cause and I recommend reaching out to volunteer. Volunteers are crucial to their work!

Joe Kerry and Bible Rescue are amazing in the work they do!!!! Also check out the Family Bible Preservation Project - which works along side Bible Rescue in preserving their bible records in FamilySearch Memories. The Family Bible Preservation Project is also always looking for volunteers. The two organizations work to preserve family bible records. see: https://yanceyfamilygenealogy.org/genealogical_service_project.htm
